For me, Fashion is Art and as such I like to see it represented on the street, catwalks, window displays and of course in museums.
If you want to learn more about Spanish fashion, I invite you to visit "Fashion is a Dream, 25 years of Spanish talent". The exhibition has been organized by the Sub-Direction of the Promotion of Fine Arts of the Education Ministry, the magazine MARIE CLAIRE, and the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain.
The Education, Culture and Sports Ministry want to promote the national museums and fashion to increase their historic and textile legacy.
There are 50 designers represented with 117 pieces, 73 of which are clothes and the rest jewelry and shoes. There are dresses on loan from the Costume Museum and other from private collections, designers and companies. All are joined together with elegance in rooms filled with sculptures, arms, tapestries and European paintings from the XVI to XIX centuries.
The exhibit presents a dialogue between fashion and art, situating emblematic dresses in surroundings with a unique decor.
The exhibition is a display of the most relevant creations of Spanish fashion from the last 25 years and you can enjoy it at the Cerralbo Museum from now through January 13th 2013. If I were you, I wouldn't miss it. It is marvelous.
